My TA
My TA is so spastic. His voice keeps cracking like he’s still going through puberty. I wish I could take a sneaky video of him.
Medill Career Services War of Attrition
So, last fall Medill had a town hall meeting where students were invited to air their grievances. Most students just aired veiled jabs at Dean Levine. My question was about the lame career services website. Here’s an email exchange I had with Jim O’Brien this morning. From me: Hi, I was just wondering, when will the new career services site be up and running? It’s been...
done and doner
Just finished applying to all my law schools. If I had to do that all over again, I would have sent them back in October. Rolling admissions…I’m an idiot. Now the waiting game begins. For reference, I applied to: Georgetown Emory Northwestern UChicago UCLA UC Berkeley George Washington Now I get to compulsively check the mail every day. I knew there was a reason I took the mailbox...
my butt has been kicked
Darryl, my instructor for cardio box tonight, has kicked my butt. I am having problems completing basic tasks around the apartment. This is why I joined EAC though, I don’t push myself hard enough. I need someone to yell at me to get a good workout. On another note, the weather for here right now is “blowing snow”. That basically means a sandstorm of snow. Dunes are forming....
cashmere mafia
Just watched the pilot of Cashmere Mafia online. It pretty much follows everything I’ve read about it online. The clothes are fabulous. Everything else is a parody of “fast-paced high-power new york life”. With name-dropping. It’s obvious that it’s a SATC rip off. But they don’t even do it well. I don’t actually like any of the characters or care...
gym
Just went to EAC for my first work out. Did 30 minutes on the elliptical watching Troy, then went to a Basic Yoga class. The class was pretty easy, and full of old people looking for a low-impact workout. I might do yoga again if stressed, but next time I want something a little more high energy.
agenda post
Went to Merle’s for lunch with Jason and had a pulled pork sandwich. delish! Now, I’m headed to Old Orchard with Jinny, Corrie, Megan and Eric.
keeping up with new year's goals
This year I made goals instead of resolutions. One was to cook more, which I’m doing. Another was to work out more. I just joined Evanston Athletic Club, and I think I’m going to a yoga class on Sunday.
events in the past week
In the past week I have become exceedingly anxious about my plans for next year. I want a job (or at least an offer!), or to get in law school. I hate indecision. And right next year’s plans are in limbo until I can get something concrete worked out. ugh.
"creating internet buzz"
I can’t believe I just googled that phrase. It’s for work. My boss wants me to get people to watch her youtube videos and subscribe to them. This makes me a comment spammer on youtube. I keep having to type in nonsense words to prove I’m not a robot.

finally finished my french paper…it’s going to be a long quarter writing these. but then i’m done with my minor!! done, done done! and i can take whatever i want next quarter!
hurdle
The book I’ve been wanting to read is sitting at the library waiting for me. I just checked the catalog. I am 2.25 pages done with the French paper I’m writing and quickly running out of steam and ideas. BUT! Once I get this paper done, I don’t have any real homework for a while… Motivation?

on being a French minor
This was probably a poor decision. I have gotten mostly B’s in French classes, they are a ton of work, and I’m still not fluent in French. I am conversational though :)

on becoming a hit man
I have to read excerpts from this book on becoming a hit man for my law and ethics of journalism class. The idea is, this book is published and available to people. Some guy used it to help him murder a family as a hit man. Are the publishers responsible?

information
For my Law and Ethics of Journalism class, I have to make Freedom of Information Act requests of federal and state agencies. I decided to ask the National Science Foundation for information regarding the lost city of Atlantis ;) and ask the Clarke County police dept. in GA for my dad’s old police records.
Just finished the law school interview. I feel like I was too honest. I answered “what are some misconceptions people may have about you” with “that I’m arrogant”…probs no good as you aren’t supposed to admit weaknesses. It’s impossible to appear poised and graceful in those things. I can’t imagine anyone asking historical glamourous women like...

on my way
I’m headed to downtown Chicago this morning for my Northwestern law school interview. I pretty much have to apply everywhere in a whirlwind this weekend.

I didn't get in
I called George Washington today to get a status update on my application. I wasn’t accepted early decision. No free law school. I’ve been shuttled into the pool of regular applicants. I’m way more disappointed than I thought I would be. I really expected to get in. Then I would have free law school, a free place to live, and be set for next year. I could have started...

I’m waiting to hear from GW law right now. I applied ED because if I get in, it’s free. Decisions were mailed yesterday. Commence nail biting.
