where are they now?
Me: Dude, the Paula Jones case is in our Torts book.
Andrew: really?
Me: yeah...
Me: You know what I want to see? A VH-1 style "where are they now?" report on Monica Lewinsky. Like, what's she up to these days?

page limits
I often had difficulty hitting the page limit in college. This is the first time I’m going over the page limit and having a really hard time cutting my paper down. My professor will not read past the 18th page. It’s going to be a long night.

late to the game
I’m seriously late to the game here, but I just downloaded a Girl Talk album, and I’m loving it. Currently downloading The Hood Internet and Justice.

twilight: the movie
I saw Twilight, the movie, last night at midnight with a law school friend. The theater was full of teenage girls, as expected. The movie, however, was different from what I had been expecting. I went into the movie with low expectations. It had gotten weak early reviews, and I know how badly fantasy books get butchered when they’re made into movies (Eragon, anyone?). Surprisingly, it...

twilight: the books
After hearing a lot of media hype about the Twilight movie coming out this weekend, last week I decided to read the books. I’ve always liked sci-fi and fantasy books for the exact reason my mom hates them. They’re entirely separate from this world. They’re an escape. I spend most of every day at law school or doing homework for law school. I’m so burned out at the end of...

juvenile vampire interests
Hi, My name is Katherine, and I like reading books/watching tv shows/watching movies about vampires. A qualifier first, I think vampires/fantasy/sci-fi all get a bad rap as far as genres go. For some reason it’s considered un-cool to be interested in these things. I’ve already explained my feelings on sci-fi literature in an earlier post. I think it’s so strange that we’re...

Saying Goodbye
I just said goodbye to my favorite ex-boyfriend Brian. I’ve known Brian for about 8 years. Whenever I come home for the holidays, I hang out with Brian. I’m going to miss having him around. * Note- he moved, he’s not dead.

i suck, etc.
Kinda fell off the blogging horse this weekend. Friday night was a group dinner and group bar outing. We went to one of my favorite Atlanta bars (Brick Store Pub). It reminds me of Hopleaf: great food and a dizzying array of beers. It was a fun night, but at the end of it I needed a break. Eric and I both share an aversion to big group outings, especially when they involve a giant group check....

happy afternoon
Once again, I had a really productive afternoon that had nothing to do with getting homework done.  Earlier this week I had left another textbook on the shuttle. I got the call this afternoon that they had found my book. When I got to the shuttle office, they threw in a free L.L.Bean style tote bag. Score! I know they were kind of making fun of me for losing two textbooks on the shuttle this...

symphony
I went to the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra tonight with my mom, and our friends FB and Carrie. The program included a piece by Gershwin, a piece by Dvorak, and a percussion-focused piece composed by John Corigliano. I don’t know that much about classical music, but I always enjoy an opportunity to learn. The Dvorak piece was my favorite. It was the symphony “From a New World” that...

My first OS →
Wired has a retrospective of Windows through the ages. The first computer my family owned ran off of Windows 3.0. Games were loaded onto the computer through floppy disks. We had an external optical drive. I remember the DOS system and how there were manila file folders and notebook paper look alikes for the file system. I guess we still use folders, but they look a little more sophisticated now.

buffy the vampire slayer
I didn’t watch this show when it was on TV, but I’m watching it on hulu. It’s funny how 90s everything seems looking back. Also, the episode descriptions on hulu make it sound like the most ridiculous show ever: “Buffy suspects that a ventriloquist’s dummy may be harvesting organs from classmates performing in a school talent show.” Wait, maybe that’s...

best neighborhood restaurants (Chicago) →
For all my friends here in Chicago, here’s a list someone created of the best neighborhood joints in Chicago. I haven’t been to all of them, but I can attest to Al’s Deli being awesome, and I’ve heard good things about Avec and Violet Hour.

the one clock...
I changed most of my clocks this weekend (car, stove, watch, etc) but the one clock I forgot to change was on my coffee machine. This morning, my coffee maker happily beeped away at 5:30 a.m. instead of 6:30. Whoops.

craving some 'cue
I was hard craving some barbecue (‘cue) today, so I hatched a plan to get some tonight. Elliott, Andrew and I went to Fat Matt’s for dinner. The place smells divine, and they have an excellent hand painted menu on the wall. I ordered my usual, pulled pork. I was kind of disappointed that it came with Lay’s potato chips instead of fries or beans, but c’est la vie....
