new word
I was reading my January issue of Elle Decor while waiting for my flight, and I came across a new word. That doesn’t happen every day, so I thought I’d share. sybarite—one devoted entirely to pleasure It has Greek origins, coming from the isle of Sybaris.

How I Met Your Mother cast re-enacts the year in... →
This is one of the cuter year-end gimmick articles I’ve seen. I occasionally watch HIMYM, mainly because Neil Patrick Harris rules hardcore.

chicago foodie christmas present →
If I lived in Chicago, this is what I would want for Christmas. It’s a deck of 52 cards, each one is a $10 off coupon to great Chicago restaurants like Hot Doug’s, Naha, MK, Deeleece, Katsu …this list goes on (check it out on the website). The list of restaurants is like a Best of Chicago. The best part? The whole deck’s $30. Use three cards and you come out even!

(from tinatrenkner) This made my morning. For the record, Eric usually has a pic of the two of us. I have never asked him to do this.

Rumors of iPhone nano →
This passes my test for authenticity, based on Eric’s purchase of an iPhone yesterday. This summer Eric bought a Macbook Pro and a few months later, the new versions came out. He bought the iPhone 3G yesterday, so it makes sense that the nano version will come out soon :P.  That being said, I’ve never really wished my iPhone was smaller. I like being able to watch videos and view...

2PAD
I’m testing out 2PAD. It’s a website that sifts through your email account, grabs all of the pictures, and puts them in a gallery. Assuming they’re all kosher for public viewing I’ll post the link here. I read about one user who found a pic of her boobs that she had sent to an old bf. I don’t think any of those exist, but better to check before sharing the link.

i wish more people used...
A- tumblr B- twitter C- google reader I’m not very good at communicating via the telephone. However, I’m on my computer practically all the time. I find that I keep in touch best with the people who are online a lot. Tumblr is more in-depth, and I can see how if you’re not a writer, the idea of keeping a blog can be daunting/pointless. HOWEVER, Twitter, I think everyone could...

let's pretend like the economy doesn't suck
If the economy ruled right now, here are some things that would be on my Xmas list. (Hell, if all the magazines went ahead with their absurd lists, I can too). A massage from Bliss spa. Stemless chardonnay glasses from Riedel. Macbook Air. I don’t need a new computer, but I think the Air is pretty sweet. J.Crew puffer vest Nikon D-90, aka, a totally sweet camera. Digital...

j.crew ignores the recession
Has anyone else noticed that j.crew has raised their prices? I used to be able to afford most stuff they sold. Now, I can only shop their sales. Their jeans used to be $60, now they’re $150. The cheapest t-shirt on their website is $32, and one with some sequins is $45. WHO ARE YOU KIDDING J. CREW? I like their clothes, but I’m sad that they’ve chosen to try to become more...

About me
thebigbadwolff: If I were a car:  Yellow Jeep Wrangler If I were a person, my dream car would be:  white strech lime, tagged up with lots of sick, neon grafitti.  Chauffer included. If I lived in a small town that I never ended up leaving my job would be: 50’s style diner owner who knows all the city gossip/ high school volley ball coach. If I were myself, money weren’t an object, and I could...

top chef-related
Last night on Top Chef, Kathie Lee Gifford spit out the food that Jeffrey cooked. Fabio (another contestant) said something along the lines of this being Jeffrey’s fault for cooking a bad dish. HOWEVER, out of all of the contestants, the judges on the show had already rated Jeffrey’s dish as one of the top three. Therefore, I think Kathie Lee spitting out the food on live television...

foodie books →
If you have a friend who’s a foodie like me, or you’re looking for sneaky gift ideas for Katherine (hehe), these books would be perfect. Example- Thomas Keller (chef at French Laundry)’s book on cooking sous-vide. (sous vide is a recently popular method of cooking food in vacuum-sealed bags at low temperatures). Eric and I want to sous-vide our entire Thanksgiving dinner next...

cakes & ale
I’ve had my eye on Cakes & Ale since I moved back to Atlanta this summer. It was completely worth visiting. C&A is a small, cozy restaurant with spunk. It’s definitely a Decatur spot, with tons of organic and locally grown ingredients, a nice little tap list (ommegang three philosophers), and three coffee choices from south america. For me, the devil is definitely in the...

joel
I can’t figure out how to put the umlaut over the e in Joel, but just imagine it’s there. This was another underwhelming meal. I feel bad hating on Atlanta favorites, but some of these four star places have gotten incredibly complacent. Joel didn’t even seem to be trying. Eric and I (obviously a couple in our twenties) were seated next to a large group table with several...

trois
(this is backlogged, but bear with me) Trois is a restaurant I’d recommend, but not necessarily a personal favorite. My mom adores the place, and while I admire the view and the decor, the food has never wowed me. I love oysters, and while these were good, they were nothing special. I guess that’s my main problem with Trois. There’s not really any personality to the place....

So, I’m giving in and adding comments. I miss the ability to jot a quick note to friends (like I had on livejournal). My friend danny prompted me to do it with this thoughtful post. I like his idea, and wish tumblr would add a better system for commenting on posts. So, open season on the haterade.
