mentor's report
For my sorority, as seniors, we write anonymous letters to the chapter known as mentor’s reports. This is mine. Dear Sisters,
I’m a big fan of to-do lists. I have a list of things I must do in Chicago before I leave in June. I have a list of restaurants I want to try. I keep a to-do list for homework and obligations. This is my to-do list for college. Think of each of these things...
This is my favorite new scandal, especially because I have skied in Utah for the past 12 years or so. Obvi, Nancy Grace is the only person covering this in a logical manner, and by logical, I mean INSANE.
prairie grass cafe
On Friday night Eric, Julie, Corrie and I went to the Prairie Grass Cafe in Northbrook, IL. I had heard about it through various food blogs, and it always got good reviews. We were in the area, so I decided it would be fun to pop in.
We started with cocktails. Points off for Eric’s martini coming with the olives just floating at the bottom. For dinner Corrie and I did a series of...
nfl draft
I always like watching the draft. It’s such an amazing system. It also makes me think about the insane number of stats involved in sports.
good day
I just made puppy chow. It might be my favorite food ever. We’re having a Mexican night tonight. Emmy’s making pulled-pork tacos and I’m making Sangria (which is my favorite drink, for real). Everyone’s bringing a dish, or in Corrie’s case, a drink ;).
And I just got the new issue of Elle Decor, which is my favorite magazine. It’s just a favorite kind of...
feeling better
Thanks to my patented sickness recovery method (chug water, tons of sudafed, only smoothies to eat, nyquil) I’m feeling better today. I only left the house once yesterday- to go rent a movie with Eric and get a yogurt smoothie from Potbelly’s. We watched I Am Legend last night. Mixed feelings on that one. I thought it would be more about the outbreak and how Will Smith’s...
aaaaand
I caught a mystery illness yesterday. Sore throat, sinus headache, life blows.
sunny spring day
Just had a Mojitea at Argo Tea with Corrie. We’re planning on flasking it one weekend and making ours into tea mojitos for real and taking them to the lakefill.
Tonight: dinner with phi psi boys at Siam Thai, Top Chef and beer pong at Eric’s apt.
Pizza Hut Fake Out Commercial →
In this commercial, Pizza Hut claims that real New Yorkers are trying pasta at a real restaurant and are surprised to learn that their delicious pastas are from Pizza Hut. Only problem, according to Google, the restaurant in the ad, Tuscani, doesn’t exist.
Emmy: This morning at the 5K, there were these two guys who kept trying to pull each other's pants down. I mean, come on, are we in kindergarten?
Me: Man, those were the days, when you could shank someone...that shit was hilarious.
We're running out of internets, seriously! →
because that's what seniors do
I’m going to the Cubs game tomorrow afternoon. Because that’s what seniors do.
Today was a productive day off. I finished a book I’m reading for pleasure, cleaned out my closet, finally put my suitcase down in the storage locker, along with all my winter coats, and I worked out.
Also found this gem of an application thanks to North by Northwestern.

amazon quandry
I have one problem with Amazon.com. I buy used textbooks from the site. So their recommendations for me? Urban legends, architecture, and a lot of urban history/urban planning texts. Not exactly what I want to buy for fun…
Hello Internet circa 1993 →
I had to do some research today at work. Guess what? Small state agencies haven’t figured out how the internet works yet. This site was a complete blast from the past. When’t the last time you looked at a site with frames?
8 years looking back
I was cruising around facebook today and looking at people from my high school. It’s interesting to see how some people have changed, and some people just stay the same. I can absolutely say I’ve changed a lot since high school, and I’ve done a lot of growing up.
I questioned myself, found out new things about myself, and now I can definitely say I am happy with myself. As...
snow crash
I’m re-reading this book because it’s one of my favorite futuristic sci-fi books. I think it really accurately predicts the future of the internet, but also religion, culture et cetera. It’s pretty thought-provoking.

ultimate culinary weekend (graduation)
Ok, so all of the reservations have been made. On graduation weekend, Thursday night I’m going to Charlie Trotter’s with Eric’s family and we will be sitting at the kitchen table (“Seating is available for four to six guests at our kitchen table (which typically books four months in advance”). Friday morning will be a brunch with both families. Friday night after...
Time Traveler's Wife →
I decided to look up my other favorite book I’ve read recently, and they’re making a movie of it too! Seriously, if you haven’t read this book, do so immediately.
pamper yourself
I think it’s always important to do small things to pamper yourself (get a manicure, do a face mask at home, et cetera), so recently I bought an aromatherapy neck pillow that you can heat up in the microwave. It smells like lavender, and I just heated it up so I can wear it while I study.
settled
So in a few short weeks, my life has settled. I went from being a mess Winter Quarter, not knowing what the hell I’d be doing with my life, to committing to Emory, making a deposit on an apartment and deciding to spend the summer in Atlanta all in the last weekend. On June 23rd I will be moving back to Atlanta. I’m ready to chill out this quarter and see what the next phase of my...
official plans for next year
So, I’m officially a future law student. I committed to Emory today. I’m moving back to Atlanta and living (probably) in this apartment complex.
law school partay
I’m in Atlanta this weekend for Emory’s visiting weekend for accepted students. Tonight’s activity was a reception at a fancypants alum house. I sucked down some free coronas and schmoozed with my future classmates. Lots of TOOLS, but that’s to be expected with law students, especially when everyone’s trying to outdo each other. There were a few chill people...
mom morning
I had a mom morning today. I went to exercise class with my mom, out to coffee with some moms from the class, and then ran errands.
Also, had a mom evening last night when I went to a botox party with my mom (don’t worry, I wasn’t getting botox- I was there for laser hair removal). The botox party had wine and snacks.
The moms inspired me with a good entrepreneurial idea. ...
evanston pulled a fast one on me
While I was gone over spring break, Evanston raised the parking meter prices to 75 cents per hour. Screw you, Evanston, that’s highway robbery! I hope you do get that f-ing tower.
baby pigeons
Have you ever seen a baby pigeon? Probably not. That’s because they don’t exist. Pigeons are spontaneously born from garbage.
weekend trip
So I’m headed off for Atlanta this weekend. Emory Law is having their visiting weekend for accepted students, so I’m using it as an excuse to visit Atlanta. It’s been a little rough getting all my beginning of the quarter stuff done in 3 days, but I think I’m in a good place.
Catching up on Top Chef tonight!
vom vom vom
Last night some chick puked on me in the bathroom at the Keg. Perfect way to start off spring quarter.
Other than the vom, it was a fun night. Everybody and their mom was at the Keg last night.
