weekend agenda
Tonight: taking H2 limos to Gamma Phi Spring formal. Getting magnums of champagne for the ride. Tomorrow: SATC movie at 7, margs at Chilis afterwards, Wrestlepocalypse at 11. Saturday: brunch here in the morning, DILLO DAY (for non-Northwestern people, it’s a huge concert day/outdoor all day party on campus) Sunday: homework like whoa
sublets
Much to my pleasant surprise, we have subletters for the summer. I was worried because at NU there tends to be a glut of people trying to sublet every summer. People are getting desperate, y’all. I got an email today that was an e-vite to someone’s summer sublet. Seriously.
commencement
Mayor Daley is our commencement speaker. Suck major.
fireworks
We just stopped in Indiana and bought a shit-ton of fireworks. Now the job is to figure out how to set them off in Evanston discreetly without getting arrested.
moomers
We just went to Moomers, an ice cream shop in Traverse City that was voted the best ice cream in America by viewers of Good Morning America. Now Eric and Emmy are helping Emmy’s mom get ready for her sister’s graduation party tonight and I’m stuck upstairs typing a paper for my Lincoln class.
battlestar galactica
I watch it. It’s a good show. Deal with it. Bears, beets, Battlestar Galactica.
michigan
We’re off to Traverse City today!

Greater Atlanta has roughly the same population as Greater Berlin — but Berlin...

internet tv for free
hulu is great and all, but NinjaVideo is the best thing ever.
stalkergate update
The Gawker article has been updated with 5 theories. Also, although spacebar down arrow no longer works, simply typing a period in your search box works. UPDATE: period is no longer working for me
stalkergate
This Gawker article presents a problem. Does facebook really tell you who’s stalking you? Facebook released an official statement saying it was a list of “people you might be interested in” based on several algorithms. My list makes sense for people looking at me, but it could just be random facebook code. 1. This is a person I know for sure is looking at my profile. A lot. 2....
sororitastic
My roommate is the new President of Gamma Phi Beta. When we took the President’s Book out of the Gamma Phi house tonight I thought it was going to crumble like taking the One Ring out of Mordor.
spicy
Today was a fun morning, I went to lunch at Sashimi Sashimi with Jason, then we went to 912 to make coffee. I took him up to Central St. with me to go in the Spice House. I am definitely investing in their basic spice set before I move to Atlanta. Everything tastes better with good spices. Then Jason bought a novelty cookie from Tag’s bakery, we went in Foodstuffs and ogled fancy...
Farmer Wants a Wife
corrie: What? A NU girl is on “Farmer Wants a Wife”?? Name: Amanda Age: 21 Hometown: Poughkeepsie, New York Current Location: Chicago, Illinois Occupation: Student Education: Will receive a bachelor of science degree in March from Northwestern University. elle decor does atlanta
Elle Decor is one of my favorite magazines, and this month they have a whole feature on Atlanta. Of note, we’ll be getting a Craft restaurant (Top Chef judge Tom Colicchio’s restaurant), and three W hotels. The article featured one of my favorite furniture stores from home. I can’t afford it yet, but Pieces has some beautiful furniture.
the thing i'm most excited about...
In my new apartment for next year, my favorite thing is the fact that I have a washer and dryer in my apartment, right across from my closet, that I can use for free, any time. (subtext: it’s laundry day, my apartment’s machines are all in use, and damn they’re expensive)
while we're on the subject
This is probably my favorite promo I’ve ever seen a tv channel run. This is one of the many reasons I love the Discovery Channel.
rube goldberg
Eric’s running a Rube Goldberg Challenge today for NODE (Northwestern Organization of Design Engineers). I’m going to go check it out this afternoon, as I am an insane geek and also photograph it for my photojournalism assignment. What is a Rube Goldberg device? Gawker actually had a column about them today. This is probably the most well-known example, form a Honda ad campaign...
making food
Eric and I made this recipe last night, from SELF magazine, via Epicurious. It actually turned out pretty well, was easy to make and I like that the recipe included a main dish, a side and a salad.

what not to do
I forgot my id at crush party last night. Whoops! It was like I was underage again, sneaking drinks, etc.
