new craft beer store comes to Atlanta →
I’ll definitely be checking this place out within the next few weeks.
comments
I think I’ve been missing my comment notification emails, so I apoligize if I haven’t responded to comments recently. In addition, it appears tumblr has added something called answers. I think it’s a variation of re-blogging where you can have people answer questions you post. It’s only triggered when you end your post with a question mark.
Thoughts?

website help
I don’t often do this, but I have a plea for some minor help here. So, I have katherinemerriam.com (duh, you are here). I would like to build out the site to include my resume, contact info, etc in a more elegant way if possible. Two questions.
1. Do I need some special software to do so? (I just got iLife 09’, which I’m loving, but iWeb seems a little elementary. Can I start...
There’s nothing like being waited on by marriage material.
– Cliff Bostock in his review of Spoon in Creative Loafing.
I’m not sure if I agree or not. I think some of my favorite servers I’ve ever had have been women. To me, a great server is friendly, but doesn’t hover. A great server knows the balance between being helpful and being...

Panier Des Sens
I’m a big fan of things that smell good, including candles, soaps and lotions. I always try to buy nice soap to use in the shower. My most recent purchase is absolutely fabulous.
I highly recommend Panier Des Sens Shea Butter Soap. It comes in a bunch of amazing scents, and it’s super moisturizing. It literally feels like lotion in the shower, and this scent (Tuberose) makes my...

belly general store
This shop in the Highlands is the perfect place to stop for a quick snack while window shopping. Belly General Store features candy, cupcakes and old-timey soda in glass bottles. The store also sells a number of gourmet goods like fancy butter and finishing salt for your culinary creations.
They also sell bagels and sandwiches, but I haven’t tried any of the food. When Emmy and I...
Corrie, this one’s for you. I think you’d really enjoy Sarah Haskins’ “Target: Women” webisodes. I always crack up at least once per episode. They’re all on Current.com.
kindle
I’m fairly fascinated with the Amazon Kindle. I’ve wanted one since version 1.0 came out, and as soon as I have an extra $400 to throw around, I’ll be investing in one. Almost none of my friends feel the same way. They are attached to the physical idea of a book. I feel like occasionally people who express interest in an e-book reader are seen as anti-literature. For me, that...
Fix it Twitter.
lifedigital:
In the spirit of my most popular Tumblr entry ever (a whopping 18 NOTES you guys), I’ve been thinking of ways Twitter can improve. I’m sure most of these have been said before, but Twitter is fast becoming my most visited site aside from Tumblr and lately I’ve noticed some areas that it is seriously lacking. I love it for its simplicity, but it could definitely be more functional,...
Newspapers and Thinking the Unthinkable →
givemesomethingtoread:
The unthinkable scenario unfolded something like this: The ability to share content wouldn’t shrink, it would grow. Walled gardens would prove unpopular. Digital advertising would reduce inefficiencies, and therefore profits. Dislike of micropayments would prevent widespread use. People would resist being educated to act against their own desires. Old habits of...
james beard awards to be tweeted
This year’s James Beard awards (Oscars of food) will be on March 23. They will be announced live via twitter.
New Foodie Site →
The Atlantic has just set up a new food website that’s pretty formidable. I haven’t had time to fully explore yet, but I like what I see (including an item on Bernie Madoff’s jail food options).
i google everything.
I just googled “how to fold a fitted sheet.” This may seem lame, but I just did laundry and my linen closet looks banging now, thanks to this dude.
Also, in homemaking news, did you know that some ovens (including mine, apparently) are self-cleaning? Like, my oven is a robot and it is cleaning itself right now. I’m fascinated. Now, if only my apartment didn’t smell like...

on hiatus for spring break
“Gonna live it up down old South America way, eh Mikey?”*
I’m (finally) going on Spring Break tomorrow. After the ordeal of writing my 30-page appellate brief, I’m definitely ready for a vacation. Flora, Christine and I will be spending the week at Christine’s family’s place in the Cayman Islands.
I won’t have cell service, so please email me if you...
But we often rush to describe Steve Jobs as a “visionary” for being...

graham elliot
(I fully realize this is almost a month late-whoops!)
Eric and I went to graham elliot in Chicago for Valentine’s Day this past year. I’ll keep the review succint, especially because I’m starting to forget some things.
There was a nice prix fixe menu with a floral theme. Each dish incorporated a flower in some way. I really loved all of the food we had, but the outstanding...
steel-cut oats
Apparently oatmeal is about to get a lot more awesome. I’ve only recently become a fan of oatmeal. I have never liked eating cereal for breakfast, whether hot or cold. However, I’ve started buying the instant oatmeal with cinnamon apple at law school on mornings where I forget to eat breakfast at home. Then, the other day at Starbucks, I bought their super de duper oatmeal or whatever...
FML
FML, or f*** my life, is the best website to read when you’re alone in the law library on a Sunday night working on a 30-page brief. In comparison, things aren’t so bad, eh?
