put it in park
I spent all day yesterday in Piedmont Park. It was amazing. First of all, having no homework/exams/etc makes my life so carefree. The weather was divine, about 76-80, no clouds, slight breeze. We tossed around a frisbee and just laid in the park for hours. We also observed the following:
tons of adorable dogs
random people had kittens
kids riding down a hill in a radio flyer wagon and...

schwa
Welcome to ghetto-Alinea. I’m not quite sure how to go about describing my experience, because it was unlike any other meal I’ve ever had. The food was, to put it simply, incredible. I’ve read that Chef Michael Carlson uses the same quality of ingredients as Alinea, and it definitely shows.
To begin with, if you’re really interested, check out my previous posts on schwa...

congratulatory
So, my boyfriend won this contest. I am very proud of him and his crazy mechanical engineering/design skills. If you are into those things, you should check out the link and the video. (protip: i make a cameo).
Everything Tracy Jordan Said →
lifedigital:
All of Tracy’s lines from season three of 30 Rock (via @EWPopWatch). Impossible to pick a favorite:
“Yes, I am provocative!”
“You’re going to sue me? Who do you think you are, the San Diego Zoo?”
[Dressed as a woman] “I’m meeting my girlfriends for brunch, I hope we can sit outside. Lipstick. Heeheehee.”
“If all you want is a hug from a black person, maybe you should just host...

the publican
This past weekend in Chicago, I had a chance to try Paul Kahan’s new restaurant: The Publican. It’s supposed to be a gastropub focusing on beer, oysters and pork. So, that’s what I had when I visited.
We wanted to take public transportation so we could have plenty of beer and because we were having drinks at the Violet Hour before dinner. That made getting to The Publican a bit...

the violet hour
I’ve already reviewed this bar, but it’s now been added to my list of favorite places in Chicago. I went there again last Friday and had another exceptional experience.
Here are some gorgeous (for iPhone) shots of some of the cocktails our table had:
The Oldest Living Confederate Widow. (gin based, had honey, lemon and absinthe in it)
The Art of the Choke (This one’s not...

dolly parton
I saw a woman on my plane today who looked like Dolly Parton. Instantly I could hear Dolly’s laugh in my mind. (Dolly Parton has one of the best laughs ever). Instantly I had to listen to some Dolly, so I found the soundtrack to “The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas” on my iPhone and jammed out at baggage claim. I love that movie an am downloading it (albeit slowly) at the moment....

tumblarity
Anyone know what this new tumblarity feature is about? I had a 42 earlier and have somehow dropped to a 10? I’m not sure what it really measures or how to use it.

southport grocery and cafe
Emmy took me to Southport Grocery and Cafe for breakfast the other morning. (We had a “hot mom” day: on a Tuesday we went out to breakfast, spent the day shopping, re-did our nails, watched gossip girl, and started drinking wine at 5pm, because this is what we believe “hot moms” do.)
The grocery/cafe is in Lincoln Park, and they’ve recently opened their sidewalk...
I will be watching this. At least the pilot…

Harry Potter exhibit
I don’t know if I’ll have time for this while I’m in Chicago this next week or so, but if anybody would like to join me, I’d love to go to the Museum of Science and Industry to see the Harry Potter exhibit.
