Cliche Pun on Book Title

eat. drink. be merry.

My mom and I went to Room at TWELVE as a part of Atlanta Restaurant Week, which meant we were having a $25 prix fixe three-course dinner. Thus, I had a limited selection of their offerings. I started with a cocktail, vanilla sky. It had vodka, lime and mint and tasted roughly like a mojito, delicious.

I started with arugula salad with snap peas, goat cheese, walnuts, dried cherries & balsamic vinaigrette. The salad was tasty (hard to mess up that combo) but it was too big. The restaurant’s known for steak, so I chose that for my entree option. Also, I never order steak in restaurants because my mom cooks it once a week. If I can get it at home, why would I want to order it in a restaurant?

My steak was a perfectly-cooked medium rare. It came, in true American fashion, with a mountain of mashed potatoes, and a few spears of asparagus.  I would have preferred more asparagus.

Our server made good recommendations, and when my mom didn’t like her cocktail, she offered to replace it with a different one.  She was a little slow for a Tuesday night, and the restaurant wasn’t crowded…

The decor was pretty generic for the modern New American restaurant. Nothing special there. They do have a pretty spiffy website, however.

Dessert was huge as well. I want small portions. It was beautiful and delicious, though. I had triple chocolate cake and my mom had carrot cake.

(note my mom’s blingy cross in the background)

Overall, the experience was just generic. The food was giant, but there were no surprises. Nothing made me excited.
