Cliche Pun on Book Title

eat. drink. be merry.

I realize that I don’t often actually talk about what’s going on in my life on this blog. In my effort to try not to overshare, I think sometimes I end up just not sharing. So, here’s a mini-update.

I’m about two weeks away from my second set of law school exams, so I’ve started to hunker down and study. I’m a little nervous because we don’t have a big reading period in between classes and exams this time around. In addition, I’m currently going through the tryout process for both mock trial and moot court. Today I have my final mock trial audition (I’m working on it this morning) and then tomorrow I have my moot court semi-final tryout. I’m really enjoying the public speaking aspects of law school. It’s re-affirming my choice to come here and bringing me back to my high school debate days.

As mentioned previously, as soon as I’m done with exams, I’m heading to Chicago. Eric, Corrie, Corrie’s Eric and I will be road-tripping down to the Kentucky Derby with some other NU friends. After the Derby, I’ll be spending an additional week in Chicago hanging out with Eric and my other NU friends that are still around the city. (Emmy, will you be there?)

When I get back, I start my summer job on May 18. I’ll be working for the Cobb County District Attorney’s Office this summer. It’ll be 10 straight weeks of 9-5 work, but I’ll get the chance to do a lot of substantive legal work.

The program ends on July 25, and I’m planning on heading out to California after I’m done with work. Eric’s family has a cabin up at Lake Tahoe, and I’ve never seen it. I’m thinking a hiking/wilderness birthday is in order this year (July 30, never forget).

In August, job searching for summer 2010 begins. Then it’s time to do this all over again. I can’t believe I’m almost 1/3 done with law school. It’s been a strange experience, at times lonely, depressing, exciting, challenging and ultimately difficult. There have definitely been times where I have wanted to quit. But after slogging through a year of law school, I’ve actually found aspects of it that I like and people here that I like. I’m here to stay, one year down, two to go.
