Cliche Pun on Book Title

eat. drink. be merry.

I ate at Murphy’s recently for Brian’s graduation day brunch/lunch. I know everyone has been to Murphy’s (and if you haven’t, I would definitely recommend it), so I won’t go over the basics.

I always get the crab cake sandwich. It’s just one of those dishes, that try as I might, I can’t stray from. I also tried the calamari and the flatbread appetizers and fell in LOVE with the flatbread.

Saw a car accident outside of this restaurant, too. Bad trend?

If I didn’t already have Valentine’s Day plans, I’d be all over this.

If I lived in Chicago, this is what I would want for Christmas. It’s a deck of 52 cards, each one is a $10 off coupon to great Chicago restaurants like Hot Doug’s, Naha, MK, Deeleece, Katsu …this list goes on (check it out on the website). The list of restaurants is like a Best of Chicago. The best part? The whole deck’s $30. Use three cards and you come out even!

For all my friends here in Chicago, here’s a list someone created of the best neighborhood joints in Chicago. I haven’t been to all of them, but I can attest to Al’s Deli being awesome, and I’ve heard good things about Avec and Violet Hour.

The Brick Store Pub is a small bar/restaurant in Decatur, GA (near where I live now). An extensive list of beers on draught, including a whole list of Belgians, sets them apart from the crowd in Atlanta. This place reminds me of Hopleaf in Chicago. Brian Lynch showed the Brick Store to me last week when we stopped in for beers and shared a plate of baked brie. The service was prompt and friendly, our server even complimented Brian on his t-shirt and talked to us about music for a while, despite the fact that the place was crowded (busy at 6pm on a Thursday). The food was tasty, although I just had an appetizer. They also have an extensive Scotch list. The bar in the center of the downstairs is shaped like a horseshoe, and as you’d expect it’s a brick building. The leather booths were comfortable and private and the most amazing wilco remix cd was playing.

I think I might take Eric here for late dinner tonight after his plane lands (at 9pm).
